How Fort Refuge Helps Young Boys Tackle Life's Challenges
At Fort Refuge, we understand that the teenage years can be confusing, emotional, and sometimes overwhelming. Our mission is to walk alongside young men (ages 13–19) as they navigate real-life issues with wisdom, confidence, and faith.
How to Handle Emotions in a Healthy Way
Teen boys often feel pressure to “tough it out” or hide their feelings.
At Fort Refuge, we teach that it’s okay to feel — and more importantly, we show them how to process emotions in a mature and healthy way.
They learn:
How to recognize and name what they’re feeling (anger, sadness, fear, etc.)
How to express those feelings without hurting themselves or others
How to talk to God, mentors, or peers about what’s going on inside
We give them tools — not just advice.
At Fort Refuge, we’re not just preparing young boys for the next test or season —
We’re preparing them for life.
We teach them how to:
Handle emotions
Make wise decisions
Respond instead of react
Solve problems with faith and strength
Live with purpose and courage
Because boys don’t become men by accident.
They become men when someone shows them how.
